Philosophy of Harm Reduction Programs

Our philosophy is client-centered, non-judgmental, authentic, caring, strength based and respectful of color, religion and race. The intent of our work with clients is to recognize strengths, build on capacities to make healthier life choices (reduce transmission of (HepB/ HepC/HIV) and reflect their state of readiness for change.

The intent of our work with clients is to recognize strengths, build on capacities to make healthier life choices (reduce transmission of (HepB/ HepC/HIV) and reflect their state of readiness for change.

Clients may or may not be in a pre-contemplative state of readiness for change. Our role is to inspire, promote, encourage and assist motivation and skill building so clients can move forward with goal planning and increase their capacity for making healthier life-style choices. With patience and a non-judgment approach, we accept “this is their journey.” In the same token, we are mindful that supporting behavior that enable, justify or rationalize a way of being is unproductive for the client and the community.
