Port Alberni and Area Regional Outreach

“Providing Harm Reduction Supplies from Parksville, Coombs, Qualicum Beach
to Port Alberni and Tofino”

The Regional Outreach Program supplies and exchanges harm reduction equipment to interested individuals, peers and social service agencies in the Central Vancouver Island area. The Regional Outreach Worker (ROW) is able to travel and meet people to design unique, community tailored harm reduction initiatives that include needle exchange, education and health practices. The role of the Regional Outreach Worker is to support access to harm reduction supplies in geographical areas where there is limited access to needle exchange programs. Our goal is to maximize the supply of harm reduction supplies so that people who inject, inject safely.

If you are interested in participating in a peer network or providing harm reduction supplies and education in your area, please contact our office and we will provide you additional information on how you can aid in preventing disease transmission. We assist organizations prepare policies and forms, provide staff education and conduct site assessments for delivering a harm reduction programming.
